The Shutter Shootenest Photo Contest
West of the San Jacinto!
The Sheldon Lake Shutter Slingers Shootout (SL3S) is for all those cowboys and cowgirls with itchy shutter fingers. FOSL would like to put them to good use capturing the beauty and enjoyment found at SLSP.
CASH MONEY BOUNTIES!
Sixteen quarterly winning photos will compete
for cash and prizes.
- Bounty Hunters compete for $450 in the Bounty Round.
- "Best Shot of the Shootout" and will win $250, Second-BSOTS wins $125 and Third-BSOTS wins $75.
- Greenhorns compete for $150 in gift certificates.
- Greenhorn "Best Greenhorn Shot of the Shootout" will win a $75 gift certificate, Second-BGSOTS wins $50 gift certificate and Third-BGSOTS wins $25 gift certificate.
WHEN IS THIS HERE CONTEST?
The contest year runs from July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2010. There are four Quarterly Round-ups. At the end of each quarter we will select the best photos from the four categories submitted in that quarter. The Quarterly Roundup prizes are nice but a bit more valuable for the quarter winners is a slot in the cash-money Bounty Round. The winners in the Bounty Round, selected from the 16 quarterly-winning photos, get the cash-money bounties!
YOUTH & NOT-SO-YOUTHFUL DIVISION!
There are two division:
Greenhorn and
Bounty Hunters. Greenhorns are
less than 18 years–old at the time they register. Bounty Hunters are
everyone else.
There are
separate quarterly and
final judging and
prizes for each division. However, a registered
Greenhorn contestant
may "jump up" and compete with the Bounty Hunters in any quarter.
MORE CHANCES TO WIN!
Firstly, each photo submission must capture the spirit and beauty of the flora, fauna, people and activities of SLSP. Greenhorn Division entries do not compete in categories. Any picture a young'n takes and wants to submit will do!
Bounty Hunters can submit photos in the following categories:
- PEOPLE – People at the park (e.g. fishing, picnicking, volunteers at work).
- FAUNA – Fauna (i.e. insects, animals).
- FLORA – Flora (e.g. coreopsis, mulberry tree).
- SCENIC –
Catch-all category open to any photo that may or may not meet the above
subject criteria (e.g. sunset over lake, flock of geese rising, canopy
in fog). Bounty Hunters' decide which category their submission falls
under when entering them.
SL3S contestants can
submit as many photos,
in as many categories as they want in each quarter of the contest year. Bounty Hunters have
four chances to get a photos in the
Bounty Round!The
best category photos from
each quarter comprise the
16 photos of the
Bounty Round.

$10 contest fee. The fee is
waived for current
FOSL members and
Greenhorns.
